The discovery of the island of Gorée in the 14th century is attributed to a Portuguese man named Denis Dias. The Portuguese named it “Ilha de Palma” and occupied it until 1580. In 1627, the Dutch seized the island; History owes them the name “GORÉE” from the Dutch “GOEDE REEDE”, “GOOD HARBOR” in English, in French “BONNE RADE”.
It is in homage to this prestigious island, a sanctuary of slavery and today a world heritage site, that we have named our space GOOD RADE.
